Guy Leech:
The Man Behind Elliot
What began as a routine training session on Manly Beach became a moment that would shape Guy Leech’s life and mission forever. The loss of a close friend – and the absence of a defibrillator when it mattered most – sparked a question that demanded action: how do we ensure lifesaving technology is within reach when seconds count?
For more than a decade, Guy has been a leading advocate for improving cardiac arrest survival in Australia, working tirelessly to expand access to defibrillators across communities with a clear mission – to get a defibrillator within 180 seconds of anyone who suffers a sudden cardiac arrest.
In 2019, Guy was introduced to Elliot creator Gary Montague, a former medical officer with the CIA, whose vision was to develop an AED that could truly bridge the gap between the community and the home – a device simple, accessible, and practical enough to be part of everyday life. That vision aligned perfectly with Guy’s mission.
Today, Gary and his team have built an AED that can do just that.
Now, Guy is bringing Elliot – the next generation AED – to Australia to help close the critical gap between public access and immediate response, with a clear goal: to save thousands of lives and change how Australians think about heart safety.
